'vafa kyuu’n nahee’n milty?'

'urdu' ghazal in English translation:

1. baa-yaqee’n, be-gumaan, kehte hai’n,
hum unhai’n dil se, jaan kehte hai’n.
(I do utter with confidence and without doubtful perception.
I do consider my love my heart and my soul without any question.)

2. kal talak jis mai’n, reh na paae’nge,
us ko apna makaan, kehte hai’n.
(Knowing this fact, that the place where we can’t live forever.
We not only enjoy to dwell there but to live for ever do endeavor.)

3. apne bas mai’n, na apne qaabuu mai’n,
jis ko apni, zabaan kehte hai’n.
(Our own tongue which in fact is the source of creating problems.
Alas! that unmanageable thing is considered to be our belongings.)

4. rooThh kar jo, balaaey jaan bane’n,
hum unhai’n apni jaan. kehte hai’n.
(When my beloved gets angry, environ though changes direction.
But surprisingly my attitude doesn’t show any rage and reaction.)

5. zi’ndgaani, ke baa’d ulfat ke,
hai faqat imtihaan, kehte hai’n.
(The life without love eventually has no taste and flavor of any kind.
Whether love life consists of problems and worries combined.)

6. ho khazaa’n aur bahaar ka, hamdam,
tab use gulistaan, kehte hai’n.
(The place where we observe the sceneries of the fall and the blossom.
That location is supposed to be called a garden or a heavenly album.)

7. us ke jaur-o-sitam se, huu’n vaaqif,
sab jise mehrbaan, kehte hai’n.
(I'm well aware of my sweetheart’s unstable and intolerable habits.
But her behavior in front of people gets good and commendable credits.)

8. aap beeti hai, tairi ya mairi,
sab jise daastaan, kehte hai’n.
(The stories of enjoyment and displeasure we come across here.
All of them are the biographies of people living in this world’s sphere.)

9. mei’n jo jeeta huu’n, roz mar mar ke,
hai anaa darmiyaan, kehte hai’n.
(Every day in this world I do die to live and collapse to survive.
In fact my egoism excels my breathing to sigh and nerves to thrive.)

10. log ulfat mai’n, jald-baaz bhi hai’n
baa’d mai’n al-amaan, kehte hai’n.
(Some people make haste falling in love naturally, obviously.
After they face obstacles, their repentance hurts them seriously.)

11. log ‘Ashraf’, alag thhlag sab se,
maira tarz-e-bayaan, kehte hai’n.
(‘Ashraf’! Many people who read my poetry, view charismatic expertise sample.
They see my work differently, distinctively, and give best know-how example.)
