'urdu' ghazal in English Translation:

1. mujhe chhoR kar naya raasta, karo ikhtiyaar, yeh gham nahee'n,
tiri be-rukhi mire pyaar ke, kabhi rok sakti qadam nahee'n.
(O, my love, thou can leave me alone, adopt any way thou like, I don’t mind.
Thine ignorance to my love can’t stop me going ahead and keep my steps behind.)

2. tire baa'nkpan mai'n ghuruur hai, miri 'aashiqi mai'n futuur hai,
mire josh mai'n jo shu'uur hai, tiri dastras mai'n voh dam nahee'n.
(Thine raven beauty has a pride and mine love has rebellious position.
No power of your charm and fascination can control the strength of my wild acquisition.)

3. mei'n thha khuub 'izzat-o-jaah mai'n, huva kam-taree'n tiri chaah mai'n,
magar ehl-e-dil ki nigaah mai'n, mira martaba huva kam nahee'n.
(I was proud of my respect and dignity, but in thine love I lost my glorification.
But in the eyes of prestigious people, I never lost my status and signification.)

4. ho yaqeen jis ki zabaan par, usey jan dena bhala lage,
karai'n baat us se to kya bhala, jise paas-e-'ehd-o-qasam nahee'n.
(The person who you believe in, any kind of sacrifice for him, is not enough.
But no reverence and regard a person deserves who always deceives and does bluff?)

5. koi zar ki bhook mai'n mubtala, to kisi ko khuun ki pyaas hai,
hai gurusngi kahee'n tishnagi, yahaa'n koi sair shikam nahee'n.
(In the world, some people are wealth hungry, some blood thirsty filled with lust.
And every place seems full of destitution, and everyone’s stomach full with greed dust.)

6. rahey apney kaam sa'nvaarte, na kisi ke kaam bhi aa sake,
jo thhakan huee to pata chala, ke kisi bhi kaam ke ham nahee'n.
(We took care of just ourselves, and provided no comfort to anyone.
We repented to realize that God has not made humans just for one reason.)

7. kaTai'n khauf mai'n jahaa'n raat din, na zameer ho jaha'n mutma'in,
vahaa'n 'Gil' rahai'n bhi to kya rahai'n, jahaa'n aabruu'e qalam nahee'n.
(Where fear controls days and nights, and ego is dissatisfied having no eager.
Then why we must live and what to do there where honor of our craft is in danger?)
